Two drivers caught speeding at 144mph in North Yorkshire have been given four-month jail sentences.

The motorists, Daniel Scott Richardson and James Burrows, were charged with dangerous driving after the journey on the A19.

Dave Brown, North Yorkshire Police’s mobile safety camera manager said, “Any error, no matter how minor, could have been catastrophic for the two drivers, their passengers and other road users.”

The two, aged 21 and 26, were sentenced to four-month jail terms which were suspended for 18 months.

First UK Motorway Service Station Pub Opens For Business

The very first motorway service station pub has opened in the UK, just off the M40 near Beaconsfield.

The Wetherspoons pub, The Hope and Champion, says it’s opening has created more than 100 new jobs as it plans to be open between 4am-1am seven days a week and serving alcohol from 9am.

The move is controversial, with the RAC claiming that only 12% of people in a survey of 2,000 were supportive of service stations having pubs.

Forrest Williams, motoring law specialists, made our views about motorway service station pubs very clear in a blog post last year.

More Great Feedback For Forrest Williams From Motoring Law Client

Here at Forrest Williams, we love receiving feedback.

This unprompted eMail came in today from a very happy client* who pleaded guilty to a drink driving charge at Thames Magistrates Court and was represented by one of our regular barristers.

He said:

“I just want  to say a big thank you to you guys for being there for me at this difficult time, and to thank you for the excellent service.  Emma was fantastic and very understanding and non-judgemental.  It was a very stressful time and to say I was nervous about today would be an understatement.  Emma texted me to let me know she was on her way, arrived on time and took complete control.  I am so glad I decided to get representation as it was not nice to be in the situation I found myself in.  I would certainly recommend you to any of my friends or colleagues who find themselves with a motoring situation and need support and advice.  What a fantastic team you are, a very big thank you for being at the end of the phone and mail box, such a personal service and, as Tracy said, I can move forward with my life from today.”

Due to strong representation from our expert motoring law team, this client was able to obtain the minimum 12 month disqualification, despite the magistrates’ sentencing guidelines advising a ban beginning at 17 months.
